What’s Growing in the Field
Over 50 types of spring to fall annuals are grown at Rain Shadow Ranch. We focus on varieties that are suited to the temperate PNW climate, but also dabble in a few Mediterranean and hot climate flowers. Our main crops are:
Spring: Ranunculus, anemone, snapdragons, stock, narcissus, and tulips
Summer: Zinnias, hydrangea, statice, strawflower, ageratum, and yarrow
Fall: Dahlias, sunflowers, and most of the summer varieties
Herbs: Sage, Rosemary, Pacific Bay, Basil, Parsley, Dill, Cilantro
Along with flowers and herbs, we grow a mish-mash of tomatoes, chilis, cucumbers, zucchini, pumpkins, gourds, and herbs. Combined, the flower and veggie field take up only one of our six acres. With plans to expand in the near future, Rain Shadow will add perennials and woodies fields.
